Hugh Parnell

For the last 20 years, Hugh has worked in the early-stage, funding and business development arena centred around the east of England. In the noughties, he grew a team within the NW Brown Group, now spun out to IQ Capital, which included managing a business angels network (Great Eastern Investment Forum) and £40m of discretionary co-investment capital that invested in excess of 40 portfolio companies, for some of which I still sit on the Board.

Hugh now principally leads as a non-exec and independent consultant, working primarily with a range of growth companies developing to maturity, either directly or via e.g. the EEN Scale-Up pilot, Essex EIP, Cambridge Cleantech and other programmes, including University commercialisation at Cambridge, ARU, UEA, Essex, Cranfield etc

He is particularly involved with supporting the environmental technology sector, inter alia as founder/Chairman of Cambridge Cleantech (formerly Envirotech Ltd and EnvirolinkUK), Director/co-founder of the Cambridge Energy Forum and formerly the Cleantech SIG at Cambridge Network.
